Christmas is the season of giving. It's celebrated in the greatest gift God has given us in His son Jesus Christ. During this season, there are several opportunities to serve others and share the love of Jesus. From purchasing a gift for a child or serving a Christmas meal to stuffing a stocking for an elderly person in a nursing home or serving at a health clinic, there are a variety of ways to give back during this season.
Provide a special gift for a child who would not otherwise receive a Christmas gift. Angel Tree touches the lives of children whose parents are incarcerated or experiencing an economic hardship due to job loss or a medical emergency as well as special needs children and adults. If you would like to apply for Angel Tree return this completed form by November 19.
Here's how to get involved in Angel Tree:
- Sign out an Angel from the Angel Tree in the missions bay of the lobby between November 12 through December 3.
- Purchase the gift described on the angel; minimum purchase of $25 but no more than $35 per angel. Items listed on the angel are not suggestions, but actual items requested by the child. Clothing items will have the requested items along with size and favorite color of the child. Please stay within the allotted price range.
- Return the unwrapped gift and assigned angel in the black bag provided by Sunday, December 10
- We ask that all gifts be unwrapped to ensure that families with multiple children have equal amounts of gifts per child
Angel Tree Gift Wrapping
Volunteers are needed to help sort and wrap the Angel Tree gifts on Tuesday, December 12 from 9AM-3PM or Wednesday, December 13 from 9AM-12PM. Special attention is given to each family as we wrap and prepare the presents for each child in the family. Presents are evenly distributed within each family so all children are treated equally and receive the gifts they have asked for. Sign up here to help wrap gifts on December 12 or 13.
Angel Tree Pick Up
Volunteers are needed to assist in the giving of Christmas packages to those receiving Angel Tree assistance during the Christmas season. Special invitations to Christmas services will be available to invite those who are not part of Pathways Church. Sign up here to help distribute gifts on December 19 or 20
City on a Hill
Pathways Church Outreach will be providing an opportunity to join with City on a Hill in Milwaukee to assist with their monthly Health Care Outreach as well as their annual Christmas Stocking Distribution on Saturday, December 9. City on a Hill is an outreach center in Milwaukee that provides many special services to people of underprivileged areas of the city. This is a great time for families to serve together and share the love of Jesus during the Christmas season.
The Health Clinic is looking for medical and non-medical volunteers to serve in a variety of ways that day. Non-medical volunteers will assist in many areas such as food service, working in the food pantry and hygiene store, greeting and praying with guests, and other light work. Medical professionals will assist in meeting with guests to provide minimal medical services. Professional Health Care Providers are asked to call City on a Hill directly to let them know of any qualifications so they can place you in your area of service while there. Please call (414)931-6670 and speak with Blake McCarty.
The team will be leaving Pathways Church at 8AM and returning by 6:30PM. Lunch is provided by City on a Hill. If you have special dietary needs it is suggested to bring a sack lunch. Please sign up here to reserve your spot. Transportation is provided to and from Milwaukee.
Nursing Home Christmas Stocking Outreach
Christmas can be a lonely time of the year for the elderly in our community. Pathways Church has provided Christmas Stockings filled with goodies for residents of The Bridges, Rennes, and Oakridge Gardens for the past three years. This is a special time of the year to bring your children with you to serve the elderly in our community. While there, the team sings Christmas songs, plays games, and talks with the residents to help them feel the love of what Christmas is all about - Jesus' birth!
Bring a smile to an elderly person living at an area nursing home on Saturday, December 16 from 10AM-12PM and 1-3PM.
Here's how to get involved in the Nursing Home Outreach:
- Sign out a stocking between November 12-December 10
- Return the filled stocking to Pathways Church by Sunday, December 10
- Spread holiday cheer through songs and smiles
