Types of Fast

Simply stated, biblical fasting is refraining from food for a spiritual purpose.

According to the Bible, there are three practices of every Christ-follower: give, pray, and fast.

Biblical fasting takes a lot of discipline and strength - strength you can only receive from God. According to Matthew 6, your private discipline will bring you rewards in Heaven.

When you give God your first through fasting, prayer, and giving at the beginning of the year, you set the course for the entire year.

There are three basic fasts: absolute, normal, and partial.

Absolute – No food, no water. (*Note: This is a very extreme and should be done for only very short periods of time. Depending on your health, this fast should be attempted only with medical consultation, and supervision)  

Normal – No food, lots of water.

Partial – Abstain from certain kinds of food.  

How long?  You can find varying lengths of fasts throughout the Old and New Testaments.

Pathways Fast? We will commit to a 3-day, Normal Fast unless you have a medical condition or feel led by God in another direction.
