Fox Valley Jail Ministry

Mission

Fox Valley Jail Ministries, Inc. (FVJM) is a non-profit, community-wide organization devoted to providing a chaplaincy program at the over 500 bed, maximum security Outagamie County Jail in Appleton, WI.  Supported by donations from individuals and area churches, organizations and business, FVJM ministers to all inmates needing and seeking spiritual help and counsel.

Each year more than 7,000 men, women, and juveniles are booked at the Outagamie County Jail.  Some spend less than a day at the jail, but others, including many state inmates, are confined up to a year or more in the jail.  During this time of incarceration, inmates often experience severe personal, emotional, and spiritual trauma which affects not only the inmate but also family, friends, and eventually the community.

Without the counseling, role modeling, and spiritual guidance provided through FVJM, thousands of inmates would leave the institution worse than when they came. But due to the spiritual help they find here, many leave with new direction for their lives and a reason to change.  Bible study and worship services are the only opportunities inmates have to share the deeper concerns of their lives in a group setting and to learn ways to make permanent, positive changes in their lives.
